Kailie Sanders
About
Kailie Sanders is a Professional Dancer and Competitive Ballroom Dancer from Atlanta, Georgia. She began her dance training at the age of three shortly after her mom came home with the VHS tape of CATS: The Musical (1998). One watch was all it took for Kailie to beg to be enrolled in dance class, and so her dance training began with tap, competitive jazz, and ballet, later adding pointé and musical theatre. As a soloist, large group, and production performer, Kailie competed regionally and nationally with Tremaine Dance Conventions and with Dance America-Dance Olympus as a Dancer of the Year Semi-Finalist. In the Jefferson County School System, Kailie was involved in Cheerleading, where she performed as a flyer for her middle and high school varsity teams, and in Band, as the three-year Drum Major (student director) for her high school's competitive marching band. Kailie was also heavily involved with Theatre Dublin's regional production of The Nutcracker, taking on soloist roles such as Harlequin Doll, Columbine Doll, Arabian Princess, Spanish Hot Chocolate, Flower Demi-Soloist, and the principal role of Snow Queen throughout her eight years with the production.
After being accepted to the University of Georgia, Kailie expanded her training with the Department of Dance and the University of Georgia Ballroom Performance Group, where she studied International Latin, American Rhythm, and American Smooth techniques. While living in Athens, she traveled to Atlanta for competitive ballroom training with coach Christjohn Batters at Academy Ballroom Atlanta and competed in American Rhythm and American Smooth for the first time in 2017. After graduating from the University of Georgia with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Dance, Kailie moved to New York City and trained in International Latin with Fred Astaire New York Midtown, under the direction of Jessa Mae Briones, Artur and Olga Iefimova, and co-national dance director Tony Dovolani (DWTS). While living in New York, Kailie enjoyed attending International Latin masterclasses with Daniella Karagach (DWTS), Pasha Pashkov (DWTS), Denys Drozdyuk and Antonia Skobina (World of Dance), and ballroom legend Shirley Ballas.
When the COVID-19 Pandemic shut down the world in March of 2020, Kailie discovered her love of commercial dance back home in Atlanta's TV and Film Industry. She and her competitive ballroom partner, David Detweiler, were cast as dancers in "Red Notice" (Netflix), which was filmed in a historic first COVID-safe bubble from September through November of 2020. Kailie's other credits include "Stranger Things" S4, E1 (Netflix), "Haunted Mansion" (Walt Disney Studios),"Sweet Magnolias" S3, E3 (Netflix), "The Re-Education of Molly Singer" (Hemlock Cir. Prods.), and an upcoming feature with Disney+.
